Rojone is proud to sponsor a national series of Times Microwave Systems seminars regarding considerations, selection and application of RF Coaxial Cable and Lightning Protection.The seminar is scheduled to run in selected capital cities in the week beginning 29th of February 2016 (see below for more detail).

RF Coaxial Cable
Presented by: Tony Fedor, Product Development and Management,Cable, Times Microwave Systems
Update and expand your knowledge of RF Coaxial Cable. The presentation will cover cable basics, types, selection, application, connector choices, attachment procedures, demonstration of tools, approvals and compliance, as well as TMS specialty products including Mil-Spec and Low-PIM IBC/DAS.

Agenda: (Duration 1.5hrs)
- Basic coax theory and design parameters.
- Low-Loss LMR coaxial cable, parameters and selection criteria.
- Review LMR range including standard LMR, LMR-Lite, Ultraflex, Plenum and 75 Ohm cables.
- Connector choices and attachment procedures including demonstrations of tools.
- Overview of specialty products including high power cables, Mil-Spec cable, flex cables and bundled cables.
- In-building Low-PIM DAS products. Overview of in-building/carrier applications and why low-PIM assemblies are critical
- UL/CSA approvals and other international (IEC) compliance issues.
- TMS coax types and industry segment applications.
Lightning Protection for Wireless Networks
Presented by: Bogdan Klobassa, Director, Protection Technologies,Times Microwave Systems
In response to popular demand after presentations in Australia 2014, Bogdan Klobassa returns to present on TMS lightning protection for wireless networks, including lightning events, grounding fundamentals, protection technologies – all supported by real world examples & experience.
A must attend session for anyone designing building maintaining wireless network grounding systems.
Agenda: (Duration 1.5hrs)
- Overview of lightning events and statistical parameters: step leader/streamer formation, types, wave shapes distribution on cables, duration and amplitude, current and voltage divisions on feeders, EMF coupling effects, wireless infrastructure risk assessment.
- Grounding and bonding fundamentals for Wireless Networks: tower grounding and ground potential rise considerations, grounding principals and techniques, single point ground for multiple services, inductance considerations, grounding high rise and mountain top locations.
- Overview of Lightning Protection technologies: structural vs equipment protection, RF coaxial protectors, Data, DC, Telemetry including DAS applications, twisted pair protectors, AC protection technologies and considerations, industry standards and compliance for protection devices.

Tony’s experience in the wire and cable industry spans 34 years, 26 of those with Times Microwave Systems. Tony is responsible for product engineering and has been involved with the LMR cable development at TMS for 25 years.
- Development of the M17 military Low-Smoke shipboard cable products range (including of the “LLSB” product line).
- Responsible for UL/CSA approvals for all of the Times Microwave commercial wireless coax products.
- Design and development of radiating cables including T-RAD leaky feeder and patented Nu-RAD radiating cable design.
- Extensive knowledge of Low-Smoke, Non-Halogen FR materials including IEC testing standards/compliance related issues.
- Product support for rail/transit, shipbuilding/offshore and mining industries.
Bogdan (Bogey) Klobassa, Director, Protection Technologies, Times Microwave Systems
Bogey Klobassa is a globally recognized authority and speaker in the field of EMP protection. He regularly conducts engineering seminars on topics of Lightning Protection and Grounding Solutions for Communications Networks. Bogey’s professional perience spans employment with Northern Technologies, Inc.,PolyPhaser Corporation and Times Microwave Systems.

- 1994 US Region 6 IEEE Engineer of the Year Award Recipient
- Contributor to Motorola R-56 standard development.
